A high-pressure, natural gas pipeline owned and operated by the Columbia ruptured on Dec. 11, 2012, touching off a massive natural gas explosion that threw 100-foot sections of pipeline hundreds of feet away and triggered a blazing inferno that destroyed three area homes. No one was injured in the natural gas explosion.
